I met Madison quite a few years ago at Purple Door Festival. I have been blessed to work security and stage crew with her over the years and have always enjoyed the time we have worked together. Her energetic, "I don't care what anyone thinks of me" personality is definitely one of the most amazing things about her. She does what she wants while loving and caring for everyone around her. She has a Christ-like attitude that just shines in everything she does.
It has been a tradition for her to style her hair into a mohawk every year at Creation Festival and while most of the crowd finds this awesome, a few others do not.
I did not read the comments left on this picture posted on the festival's facebook page, they were deleted by the festival before I saw them, but I was outraged when I heard some of what was said.
Assuming that Madison parties, drinks and sleeps around was inferred in the comments, and these were posted by people who call themselves Christians. John 7:24 states "Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgement" Not to mention Luke 6:31 "And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them" No one wants to be judged so why judge others and loudly voice (or rather type) a rude comment about someone who you have NEVER met.
If Jesus was at Creation in the flesh standing there in the audience of the Fringe Stage I have no doubt that he would throw up his rock fist, jump up and down, mosh and give Madison a high five. God loves Madison just as much as he loves the people who assume she lives a dangerous lifestyle because of the way she styled her hair.
People can judge each other all they want, but ultimately God will be the final judgement upon you, so why put others down and show them so much hatred? Fill this world with love and acceptance! Jesus never put anyone down or made them feel like less of a person for their outward appearance. He loved everyone whether they had long hair spiked up into a mohawk or whether they had a pony tail, a bun, left their hair down, had straight hair, curly hair or no hair at all.
Being a Christian is not just about your relationship with God (although that is mega-important). Being a Christian is also about loving and accepting everyone whether they like rock music or whether they are gay or straight or if they have 9 toes instead of 10. Jesus loved everyone, he spent a lot of time with those rejected by society and that is what us, as Christians have to do. That is exactly what Madison does. She loves everyone regardless. So step up and be an example of Christ.
