Road Trip Post #2

Day 13- August 3
Today we drove from Fort Collins, CO to Omaha, NE. However we ended up staying right on the other side of the river in Council Bluff, IA. When my mother was a teenager she had a penpal who lives in Omaha, NE so after communicating for 30some years my mom finally got to meet her tonight! We all got dinner at a nice restaurant right beside a casino so after dinner my dad convinced me to go to the casino with him for a few minutes. After about 10 minutes and 2 slot machines we were up $102 so I cashed out and took the $102 profit! I don't think I need to go back to casino anytime soon, unless I have a ton of money to waste but even so there was no skee ball.

Day 14- August 4

Today we drove to Michigan City, IN. I really wanted to go to Chicago but because of traffic and my family's dislike for cities we decided to drive a little more east. We went to see Lake Michigan while we were here and I was impressed. I felt like I was at the beach but with smaller waves, you could make out some of the skyline of Chicago but besides that you could need see a thing on the other side. We ended up staying in a hotel that did not tell us their hot water pipes had broke so no one in the hotel had hot water, which was super lame but we made do since we were heading home!

Day 15- August 5
Although this was not our longest drive it definitely felt like the longest. Heading home was tiring, I think I napped longer than I had any other of our drives. But now we are home, safe and sound. And now I am missing the open road.
